‘Save our souls’ slowly weathering

Maarten Inghels’ sand sculpture opposite the church in Heppeneert is holding up well against the natural elements for now. The Meuse came up a few times last winter, but stayed at a safe distance. Of course, rain and wind do weather the sculpture, but the whole still looks legible and impressive. The work was expected to last until January, but after more than six months it is still perfectly legible and the sculpture will be on display throughout the Easter period. Together with villagers, the project team is closely monitoring the slow decay.
